Belize 2015
Belize is in Central America, south of Mexico and east of Guatemala. It is a small country with a population of 330,000. Toledo, the most southern district in Belize, is often referred to as the “forgotten district” due in part to limited road access. About 80% of the people are extremely poor and live in highly disadvantaged conditions.
We raised nearly $3,000 for our Belize campaign for Solea Water. In June 2015, Hannah traveled to Belize with Solea Water to deliver water filters and do WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) education. Part of B4CW's funding was used to provide water filters for two schools. The community of Santa Cruz received two LifeStraw Community Water Filters, which will provide clean water for over 120 students at the village school. The community of San Marcos received two LifeStraw Community Water Filters as well, which will provide clean water for over 110 students at the village school. In the near future, a well is going to be built at a school in Pueblo Viejo.

This type of hand pump is often found at schools, but the water is unfiltered.
The group really got to know the kids, and had lots of craft time!
